14 April: Formula 1 Testing - 12 - 15 April

Formula 1 testing continued today at Paul Ricard, Mugello and Fiorano. 

At Paul Ricard, Takuma Sato set an unofficial lap record with a lap time of 1:02.839 (Track solution 3Esc). Jenson Button and Antonio Pizzonia were 2nd and 3rd fastest.

Once again most drivers covered over a 100 laps. Narian Karthikeyan in the Jordan covered the most number of laps with 183 while both Takuma Sato and Ricardo Zonta covered 179 laps.

Both McLaren test drivers had problems today. Wurz spun in the morning while de la Rosa had mechanical problems as well as an engine failure in the afternoon.

Weather conditions were sunny with clear skies. Air temperature reached 16 degrees while track temperature reached 31 degrees.

As rain is forecasted for tomorrow most teams have decided to conclude their testing today however it is expected that McLaren and Jordan will test tomorrow.

At Fiorano, Michael Schumacher driving the F2005 covered 139 laps with a best time of 57.651. 
At Mugello, Rubens Barrichello also driving an F2005 covered 86 laps with a best time of 1:21.303.
Both concentrated on set-up and tyre development. Schumacher and Barrichello will continue testing tomorrow.
